  • State Literacy Strategy - 1999 
  • Curriculum Support K-6 
    • implementation of the English K-6 llabus focusing on this year's priorities of writing and listening 
    • programming and assessment support, including BST and WPA analysis and follow up 
    • change in teaching practice 
  • Curriculum Support 7 - 8 
    • Linkages project 
    • programming and assessment support, including ELLA analysis and follow up 
    • change in teaching practice 
    • In class support for target schools 
  • Literacy resources, networks and associations 
  • GATS network 
  • Teacher / Librarian network

ELI targets improved literacy outcomes for K-3 students in low socio-economic contexts.ELI undertakes this through a focus on training and development and support over time The program aims toimprove teachers understanding of the English K-6 Syllabus, their use of the syllabus framework for assessing student achievement,their subsequent classroom planning and their implementation of an effective literacy program. ELI has a four-tiered structure: 

School contacts are based in participating schools. 

Networkers work in a small network of schools from a base school in this network.

District Facilitators are consultants who work with schools, networkers and contacts.

State Office Management team is based at Ryde State Office and undertakes the planning and implementation of the program.
